More than 5,000 words are talking about the most important topic of your niche with 20 images, an infographic and the value in abundance.
You put all the meat on the grill in the 10 hours you have taken to write it, and you want this to be the post that ends once and for all with the stagnation of your visits.
You give the famous “Publish” button, share it on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ and you sit down to see the “Real-time” Google Analytics option.
The visits follow almost the same. In fact, all statistics are the same as the previous post, which you missed an hour and whose value was much lower.
I’ll tell you: you’ve chosen a title that does not attract anyone.
If you write your post only strive in content and then do not write a good title, who do you expect to read it?
The science to write titles that work is not so complicated.
And you can learn to make it today and even apply directly the formulas that I will give you here and now.
We will learn to write titles for posts that will burst social networks and give you that media boom that you are looking for.
THE TITLES OF THE POSTS ARE SIGNIFICANT?
Imagine you are in the book area of a mall.
Or rather, assume that you are in the eBooks section of Amazon, Ebay, etc. that the above already starts to sound retro and everything.
Amazon tracks you in search of a book to read, and it is clear which are the ones that catch your attention the most: those whose titles and covers are striking.
In a market as competitive as Amazon or a shelf in a bookstore, there are many other ways to stand out.
Do you think there is a lot of difference between a category of Amazon ebooks and a Twitter timeline or Facebook wall?
All users have the option to read your post, but at the same time can see that funny video of a cat, open another post with a more flashy title or see the incendiary tweet of that user who is always creating controversy.
There are even more distractions on Amazon or the Ebay bookstore. And that means you have to work harder on your titles.
In other words: it is useless to write an incredible post if the title is not okay.
A post without traffic is useless.
It is as if you put the engine of a Ferrari in the chassis of a Renault Clio or as if you sold the best chocolates of the world in a box of cardboard dented.
The packaging matters. And each time more.
THE METHOD FOR WRITING TITLES THAT ATTRACT TRAFFIC, SUBSCRIBERS AND SALES
Copywriting and writing of title is an art.
It is not necessary to write the most beautiful, striking and precious content that we can think of.
Copywriting is a science and to write good titles you will need to follow a process.
In case you know, the goal of writing anything on your blog is to convince, build trust and sell.If you do not get it, that’s not copywriting.
And, just like to do any chemical process, to write titles you have to do A -> B -> C -> D.
What are those A, B, C and D?
Put on the doctor’s robe in Physics and let’s see it.
# 1 BECOME A MASTER OF FORMULATION
If to go from A to B you only know one way, and this one is cut, what do you do?
You will feel overwhelmed, and you will have to experiment and probably take much longer to get to your destination on this new unknown road.
However, if to go from A to B you know ten different ways, I doubt that you will lose.
For this reason, you need to know different formulas to write titles. Thanks to them you will have, at least reading this post, 10 different routes towards the perfect title.
FORMULA 1: RESULT + TIME PERIOD + OBJECTIONS
This formula, which I read some time ago in Neville Medhora’s blog (highly recommended if you like copywriting) is a lifesaver.
It works for any industry, at any time and will save you more of a headache when you do not know what to write.
The formula is as simple as to divide in 3 your title:
- Result: what will the reader get after reading the article.
- Period: how long will you get the benefits.
- Objections: fight against the common objection that the reader will think before entering your post.
Here are some typical examples:
- Learn English in 7 days even if you do not know or say “hello.”
- Create your blog in less than 24 hours without knowing anything about CSS or HTML
- Do not know how to sell? Find out how to raise your blog sales in the next 7 days

Even if you move the elements of the formula, it always works the same.
FORMULA 2: THE SECRET
The word “secret” has very great potential.
Who does not want to know the secrets of that blogger that everyone admires so much?
Who does not want to know that only he knows and will tell in this new post?
Come on, who does not want to know secrets? We are all gossip.
Use this word to create any title:
- The secret system to buy plane tickets at cost price
- The secret system to multiply your income
- The secret that no one tells you about how to get more subscribers with your blog
That the human being is such a prude had to serve for something, right?
FORMULA 3: THE ONLY [SEO KEYWORD] MADE FOR [CONCRETE PROFIT / SPECIFIC SECTOR]
Let’s take a little bit of SEO and copy for this formula, which I’m sure will do well to make the ball to Mr.Google.
I do not think there’s much to explain, do you?
Just search for the keyword that you want to rank, and then you get the benefit of using it, buying it, watching it, etc.
- The only Facebook Ads Guide made for bloggers and online entrepreneurs
- The only copywriting course was done to increase your subscribers and sales
- The only WordPress hosting made to support more than 1 million visits a day
FORMULA 4: WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT
Does everyone know it and I don’t?
Can not be!
And you go, you open the post, and you read it.
Then half the time you knew what was inside, but in the end, you discovered something new (almost) always.
If there is something that everyone knows and you do not, your brain automatically tells you, “Hey, are you a fool or what?”
Why not take advantage of that with a good title?

FORMULA 5: WHY [PROBLEM] (AND WHAT CAN YOU DO TO FIX IT / CHANGE IT / FIX IT)
This is another classic that works very well.
You simply present a problem and with a generic phrase you say “hey, the solution is inside this post.”
Remember, your brain loves answers and secrets!
- Why you’re not getting subscribers on your blog (and what you can do to get them)
- Why do not you sell anything with your blog (and what can you do to solve it)
- Why are you wasting your time in copywriting (and what you can do to fix it)
FORMULA 6: [NUMBER] WAYS TO [DO SOMETHING THAT EVERYONE WANTS TO DO]
The numbers are attractive. They are like having a spring in a desert or a glass of water after a marathon.
Use this “cup” in your titles from time to time, and you will see success, especially if that number is huge.
- 200 ways to better position your article in Google
- 10 ways to double charge for your services without losing customers
- 50 Ways to Get More Traffic to Your Blog Today
FORMULA 7: MEGA [TUTORIAL / GUIDE] ABOUT [SEO KEYWORD]
Another method that works great for positioning in Google and attract clicks from social.
Although it seems a topic, the reality is that when I have used this formula in Lifestyle, Home & Garden niches the results are quite good.
I can not give you a scientific explanation of the success of this method, but I would say it is because the one who sees this title is expected to find the broader and deeper content on the subject.
And if that topic interests you, the click is secured.

- Mega Google Webmaster Tools Guide Bloggers
- Mega Skyscanner Tutorial on Cheap Flights
FORMULA 8: HOW TO WIN [X € / $] WITH / IN [TOOL, PROCESS] STEP BY STEP
Step by step and money together form a deadly combo to knock out the CTR of your competitors.
In the end, most of us seek to earn more money by applying what we read, so if you present a post as a guide to earning that money step by step better than better.
If you want to give some personality, you can also substitute “win” by “won” to give the aspect of the successful case.
This formula also fits well with Google, since there are many searches that start with the “how to win.”
- How to win $ 4,712 with your mailing list step by step
- How to earn $ 1,000 a month with Airbnb step by step
- How I made $ 1,478 in the first month of my blog step by step
FORMULA 9: THE INCENDIARY QUESTION
Questions, well used, can star in the title of many of your posts. But we do not want any question, but an inflammatory question that removes the head of your followers.
You need a question that generates curiosity and desire to know the answer, since it is always understood that this will be in the content of the post.
To complement this formula, you can add something like “Find out why you’re wrong” after the question, for example.
- Are you still writing 2 posts a week? Find out why you’re wrong
- How many eggs do you eat per day?
- Are you still wasting your money on advertising?
FORMULA 10: THE [X] WORST MISTAKES I MADE WHEN [INTERESTING SITUATION]
Readers love to know the blunders and mistakes of blog authors who read.
It is always said that you learn more from mistakes than from successes so that there can be the success of this formula.
- The 10 worst mistakes I made when I wrote my first post
- The 7 Worst Mistakes I Made When I Sold My First Infoproduct
- The 3 worst mistakes I made when hiring my first collaborator
# 2 GET TO THE POINT AND BE SPECIFIC
Do you know that there is a big difference between “more than 1,000” and “1,237“? That difference is called accuracy.
If I tell you that I have 152 clients, you will trust more than if I tell you that I have more than 150 clients. For example, I like it very much as it specifies this subject (although it is not a title) Basecamp:
In your titles, you have to be just accurate. If you are going to tell a success story from someone who has earned money by applying some tactics, it is better to write “Learn to earn $ 4,752 by doing so” than to write “Learn to earn more than $ 4,000.”
With the titles, you have only to try to contribute the maximum in the minimum possible space and be 100% precise. Go to the point, put the numbers and data with last names and you will see how your CTR increases.
# 3 GET IN THE READER’S MIND
If I had to summarize in 3 the different things that anyone craves when reading any blog would be these:
- Happy after reading your articles.
- Learn to earn more to your tips.
- Save time to dedicate other things.
That is the simplest way to get into the mind of your reader. Just present a title that attacks one of those 3 points, and you will have a lot of cattle.
Another emotion that works very well is the loss or the feeling of being the “last fool.”
For example, instead of writing “10 ways to write hooking titles” you could try “The 10 formulas for writing titles that your competition uses to steal traffic.”
Yes, I know that we will be killing the SEO a little with that other title, but is not it more flashy?
Throw away the emotions and conquer the mind of your reader to make them click.
# 4 LET THE DATA SHOW YOU THE WAY
There are no universal formulas; there are no titles that work equally well in the field of marketing, medicine, news, sports, etc.
The only way to know that something works are to TRY.
For example, For you, from the above 10 formulas only 2, 3 or 7 work perfectly or maybe a mixture of both. Rest is not for your niches.
You will never know if you do not test them all, take the data and compare them. A simple look at Google Analytics, Facebook Insight or Twitter Analytics can serve you to see:
- Visits: how many visits has this post generated?
- User Response: Does the post have a long time to stay? Is the rebound percentage high or low?
- CTR on Twitter and Facebook: how many people clicked on the post thanks in large part to the title?
- Engagement: Has your post been shared more or fewer times in social networks?
- Subscribers: thanks to this post, how many subscribers have you generated?
- Sales: Does this type of title attract more qualified traffic than you buy?
Grab all titles and data and compare. Yes, the work is a real boredom, but you can find the ideal formula for your blog, your audience, and your industry.
5 ADDITIONAL TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR TITLES
1 HARNESS THE POWER OF SQUARE BRACKETS
I’m going to dedicate a whole point to the square brackets. Yes, I’m not crazy.
Lately, you see that many posts include things like [Infographics], [Interview], [Case of success], etc.?
It’s not by chance.
According to a Hubspot study (worth reading), these types of titles that include this formula of the clasp work 38% better than those that do not include these clarifications.
It’s not a matter of passing and always using them, but I do recommend that you do it when it makes sense.
For example, if your blog only has episodes from your podcast, it does not make sense to put [Podcast] every day. And if you include infographics at all, either.
The idea is to add this clarification to give a differentiating touch and say “hey, in this post there is something more.”
2 COMPLIES WITH PROMISE
The link baiting is one of the worst things you can do. If you do not know what it is, it is more than writing a superhero title and then presenting content that has little or nothing to do.
For example, you can write a post with the classic title “The Mega Guide to create a blog and sell info products in a month.” Very well, if you fulfill what you promise, I’ll tell you many visits.
However, if you do write an 800-word post with 5 points that everyone knows, the result will be that the reader will feel cheated.
And a deceived user is a lost reader, a worthless visit. It will be a person who, however much you later retract and write better posts, will have created a negative image of you and your content.
Avoid that happening to you, or you will close doors.
3 BE CLEAR ON YOUR GOAL
Do you want to create a post to a position in Google?
Ok, take Keyword Planner, SEMrush, Answer the public and start to see what keyword should be in your title, targeting it 100% towards it. Along with all this tool, I will suggest of using Keyword Everywhere, the Google Chrome extension.
Do you want to create a post to generate noise in social networks?
Go through the SEO, create an incendiary title, play with the emotions of your reader and hit the heart.
In short, be clear what you are writing and what is the purpose of the post before putting a title.
You can position anything, even if the title has little relation, but it is more difficult. If you want your blog to become friends with SEO, keep in mind that your creativity is likely to be slightly limited.
4 TRY NOT TO GO LONG
According to another Hubspot study if you want to succeed with your titles in social networks you need to be between 8-12 words on Twitter and 12-14 on Facebook.
In the end, these are statistics and studies, but you have to try it.
Try to create concise 8-word titles and see how they work by comparing them with titles from 14-16.
Remember, never believe anything try and check!
5 CREATE YOUR TITLE DATABASE
Do you read blogs and see titles that you love? Then save them in a document and keep them always at hand.
Have you strolled through Facebook and seen a title you loved? Well, to the database.
And so with everything: if it catches your attention, you point it out.
I have a Word with a lot of titles that save my life on many occasions that I do not feel like thinking.
The brain is vague, and some days do not work. And if that day you have to post a post yes or yes, you will not be left to pull this database.
STILL, DO NOT KNOW HOW TO WRITE THE TITLE OF YOUR NEXT POST?
I do not believe it.
I know I could have given you 50 or 100 formulas to write titles to make life easier, but I do not believe it.
If you are not able to write the title of your next post with what you have here, ill come on
To finish the article, I will give you 2 basic tasks that I want you to fulfill in the comments area:
- Do you use any formula to write the titles of your posts? Put it in the comments and if we put together a few I have no problem adding another section of new formulas in the post with which you are putting.
- What will be the title of your next post? After reading this, I’m sure that your next post will not have the title you had in mind. After reflecting and following this method, tell me what title you are going to put.
See you in the comments!
